CLINICAL HERBAL CONSULTATION

What is Clinical Herbalism?

Clinical Herbalism is the holistic art and science of using plant based medicines to balance and restore health. Herbal medicine has persisted as the world's primary form of health care for more than 5,000 years. The use of traditional herbs is increasing becoming recognized for its efficacy in restoring function and balance to the mind and body. The long practiced art of matching plants to people focuses on individualized care and formulating herbal compounds that are specific to a client's needs.

Herbal medicine is especially effective for gastrointestinal and digestive disorders, infertility, anxiety, weakened immunity, fatigue, and rheumatic disorders.

What does a Clinical Herbalist Do?

The trained clinical herbalist applies skill in observing patterns of disharmony and matches the appropriate herbs to "nudge" the body back to a state of balance. They assess western medical disease patterns in the context of deeper constitutional elements and work to discover the root of a particular imbalance or pathology. After a thorough evaluation, the herbalist will offer dietary, lifestyle, and herbal formulations to support your health goals and particular energetic needs. A minimum of 4 consults are recommended.

How do I Take Herbal Medicines?
After the initial consultation, your herbalist will compound a customized formula for you and explain how and when to take your herbal blends. The appropriate form for administering herbal medicines varies according to the herbs required and the client, and may include:

  • Tinctures - Alcohol based plant extracts
  • Teas - Brew at home teas with roots, flowers, or leaves
  • Powders - Finely ground roots or berries
  • Capsules - Encapsulated herbs
  • Topical Oils & Salves - Used for self-massage & transdermal absorption
  • Footbaths - To redistribute heat, detoxify, and soothe the system

Your herbal formula is generally ready for pick up the same or next business day from the Deep Green Apothecary at the Tulsi in Georgetown.
