ABOUT TULSI
Holistic Nutrition Program

This is a comprehensive program in the holistic and preventative principles of Nutrition. It provides students with a complete and thorough working knowledge of the principles and applications of Holistic Nutrition for promoting health and well-being. The program is created and taught by a Certified Nutritional Consultant®. It helps prepare students for national level certification through the American Association of Nutritional Consultants (www.aanc.net).

The class is taught over five weekends from 10am to 4pm. There is a one 30 minute hour lunch break and two 15 minute tea breaks during the day. The levels must be attended in order. For each level, students are required to read two textbooks and complete assigned homework. The reading list is provided in class and no preparation is needed prior to attending class.

Holistic Nutrition Level 1: Foundation of Nutrition
Anatomical, Physiological & Biochemical Processes Associated with Nutrition

Level 1 provides a comprehensive overview of the human body, covering in-depth the structure, function and synchronized activities of the different organ systems with an emphasis on the processes associated with nutrition. Students learn about the bio-chemical needs of the human body and role of nutrients in maintaining major body functions.  The role of enzymes, hormones and amino acids are detailed.

Holistic Nutrition Level 2: Principles of Nutrition 1
Macro-Nutrient Needs of the Human Body

Level 2 provides in-depth understanding of the macronutrient (water, proteins, fats and carbohydrates) needs of the body including optimal amounts and healthiest sources.  The symptoms of excess and deficiency for each macronutrient are explained.  The digestive and elimination processes in the body for each macro-nutrient is traced and issues with incomplete digestion and absorption of each is discussed.

Holistic Nutrition Level 4: Principles of Nutrition 3
Micro-Nutritional Needs of the Human Body

Level 4 provides in-depth understanding of the micronutrient (vitamins & minerals) needs of the human body and the bio-chemical processes involved in their digestion, absorption, assimilation and elimination from the body. The amounts, sources and synergistic combinations of each nutrient are discussed. Supplementation guidelines for different health conditions and different life-stages are studied.

Holistic Nutrition Level 5: Application of Nutrition
Holistic Protocols for Health & Prevention

Level 5 focuses on the application of holistic nutrition for promoting health and wellness.  Holistic evaluation techniques and common denominators of health imbalances are introduced.  Students learn to identify causative patterns of health imbalances and apply dietary & supplementation strategies for addressing these.  Holistic protocols for chronic health conditions are developed.
